Situations to avoid: Sitting or standing for too long, stamping your feet in place, wearing excessively tight clothing (tight pants, boots), using shoes with very high or very low heels, exposing your legs to the sun or other heat sources, gaining excessive weight, and consuming foods that contribute to venous congestion; alcohol, spices, coffee, tea, or tobacco.
