Ocuvite Lutein contains essential antioxidant vitamins (vitamins C and E), minerals (zinc and selenium), Lutein and Zeaxanthin.
Lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids. Carotenoids are the yellow/orange pigments found in fruits and vegetables, particularly dark green leafy vegetables such as spinach.
These carotenoids, antioxidant vitamins, as well as the minerals zinc and selenium (as components of important antioxidant enzymes), are necessary for the functioning of antioxidant enzymes. Antioxidants are beneficial for health because they protect against damage caused by free radicals produced by oxidation. This metabolic process occurs continuously in our body.
