Why are folates necessary?

Folates are different forms of vitamin B9, important for the body because they participate in cell division and in the formation of blood cells. It is important that from the moment a woman prepares to become a mother, she makes sure to take folates (folic acid and 5-MTHF), since between days 22 and 28 after conception the closure of the neural tube begins.

The body cannot synthesize this vitamin, so it has to be taken through food, and if necessary, with the help of food supplements. Folic acid is a provitamin, which as such, once in the body, is transformed into biologically active folate, 5-MTHF (Metafolín®).

In addition, the new Femibion 1 formula is enhanced with such important ingredients as:

- Choline: required for cell division and growth (crucial in early embryogenesis), as well as for cell structure and function. The developing embryo depends on the maternal intake of choline, since the enzyme responsible for its synthesis is not yet active.

- Selenium: necessary for proper thyroid function and an adequate supply of thyroid hormones to the fetus

- Iron: reduces tiredness and fatigue.
